The first year of a babys life is filled with developmental milestones, and its a time of tremendous growth and change. While every baby develops at their own pace, its important to be aware of the general milestones for the first year. In the first month of life, your baby will start to focus on objects and faces, and they may start to make small noises and facial expressions. Theyll also start to startle and respond to loud sounds. As they get older, theyll start to gain control of their arms and legs and gain strength. Theyll also start to be able to laugh and smile and respond to their own name. At four months, your baby will be able to sit with support and may even start to babble and use their hands to explore objects. At five months, your baby may be able to roll over in both directions and may even be able to crawl. Theyll also be able to respond to simple commands and understand the difference between objects. By six months, your baby will be able to sit without support and may even be able to stand while holding onto something. Theyll also start to understand and follow basic commands. At seven months, your baby will start to understand the meaning of words and may even be able to say their first word. Theyll also be able to pull themselves up to a standing position. At eight months, your baby will be able to pass objects from one hand to the other and may even be able to stand alone for a few seconds. At nine months, your baby will be able to crawl and cruise around furniture. Theyll also be able to say familiar words likeMama andDada and understand simple instructions. At ten months, your baby will be able to stand alone and may even be able to walk while holding onto furniture.
